Who is responsible

Halfstack Labs is responsible for this website (halfstacklabs.com) and for the data described on this page. Halfstack Labs is based in Guatemala and is in the process of incorporation. Until that is complete, its founders act as the data controller.

You can reach us at contact@halfstacklabs.com. It is our only contact for privacy questions and requests.

What we collect

The newsletter form sends your email address, through our hosting provider Vercel and without storing it there, to our email provider, Resend, to send you a confirmation link. You are subscribed only after you press Confirm on that link. This is what can be processed:

  • Your email address, if you sign up for the newsletter. It is the only data we ask for. Resend keeps a record of the confirmation email, including your address, for up to 30 days, even if you never confirm.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies from Google and Meta, only if you accept them. They are listed in the cookies section below.
  • Technical data that our hosting provider, Vercel, receives to deliver the site, such as your IP address and the pages you request.
  • Your IP address, which reaches Google (i.ytimg.com) when your browser loads video thumbnails in the Latest videos section.
  • Your email address and your message, if you write to contact@halfstacklabs.com.

What we use it for

We use your email address to send the confirmation link and, once you confirm, the newsletter. We use it for nothing else. If someone enters your address by mistake, you can ignore the email: you are not subscribed.

Google's analytics cookies measure how the site is used. Meta's cookies measure how our ads perform. Hosting data is used to deliver the site, and the thumbnail requests are how the videos are shown to you.

If you write to us, we use your email address and your message only to reply.

Legal basis

We process your email address and set analytics and advertising cookies only with your consent. You give it for the newsletter by pressing Confirm in the email we send you, and you can withdraw it at any time, as described below.

Hosting data, thumbnail requests and the messages you send us are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering the site securely and in replying to you.

Who processes your data

These providers process data for us or on the site. Each one follows its own privacy policy:

Transfers to the United States

Resend (in its us-east-1 region), Google, Meta, Vercel and Cloudflare process data in the United States. Each one describes the safeguards it uses for international transfers in its own privacy policy.

Email addresses are kept by Resend, not on our own servers.

How long we keep it

  • Email address: until you unsubscribe. Resend keeps a record of the confirmation email for up to 30 days, even if you don't confirm.
  • Emails you send us: for as long as needed to handle your message. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
  • Cookies: for the time shown in the cookie list, or until you delete them.
  • Hosting data and thumbnail requests: as set out in the privacy policies of Vercel and Google.
  • Your theme, language and cookie choice: they are saved in your browser's local storage, which is not a cookie. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and last until you clear your browser data.

Cookies

Today the site sets no analytics or advertising cookies and shows no cookie banner. If that changes, we will ask for your permission with a notice on the site, and nothing from Google or Meta will load unless you accept. You will be able to change your decision from "Cookie preferences" in the footer.

These are the cookies that would be set if you accept. They have two purposes: to measure how the site is used and to measure how our ads perform.
